Terms & Conditions – B&B / Chambres d'Hôtes/Self Catering Holiday Rental

INTRODUCTION

Bookings are subject to the following terms and conditions as agreed to at the time of booking:-

A contract between you and us (the owners), will come into existence when we receive payment and accept your booking by issuing a confirmation of booking for the dates shown in the Booking Confirmation. The contract binds you & all the members of your party. It is your responsibility to ensure that all members of your party accept the terms of the contract set out in these terms & conditions of booking. Failure to disclose all relevant information or comply with these terms may lead to termination of the contract & loss of the booking.

 

RESERVATION DEPOSIT

At the time of making your booking, we will take a 50% non-refundable deposit with the balance becoming due 30 days before your stay, or immediately if your booking is made within 30 days of your arrival date.

 

PAYMENT

Full payment is due 30 days before arrival or immediately in the case of bookings made within 30 days of rental commencement.  If the balance is not received by the due date then your booking will be treated as a cancellation and you will remain liable to pay the balance of the rent. Late payment may also result in losing your deposit.

 

CANCELLATIONS

All cancellations must be immediately notified by telephone and then in email/writing. If you cancel your stay more than 30 days before it is due to start then your deposit will be forfeit. If you cancel less than 30 days prior to your stay then the full balance remains due and is not refundable.  Early departure does not warrant any refund.

 

Your booking will not be cancelled by us except in exceptional circumstances beyond our control. Notification will be given of the cancellation as soon as possible and we will promptly refund all payments made for your stay. Our liability for cancellation will be limited to payments made to us.

We strongly advise that you take out comprehensive travel insurance. If you choose not to, then you accept responsibility for any loss that you may incur due to your cancellation.

DAMAGE/SECURITY DEPOSIT (Self Catering)

In making a booking you accept responsibility for any theft, breakage or damage caused by you or any member of your party and agree to indemnify us in full for any loss that we may incur as a result.

 

A security deposit of €600 (Chateau), €300 (Petit Donjon) and €150 (Petit Prince Studio), is required which is payable by cash or cheque upon arrival. It will be returned within 14 days of the end of your stay less the cost of damage/breakages, including but not limited to;

 

  • No damage is done to the château, petit donjon or studio, games room, grounds, gardens, pool area or their contents, beyond normal wear and tear.

  • All rubbish is placed in rubbish bin and glass, plastic etc placed in bags for re-cycling, all soiled dishes are placed in the dishwasher and cleaned.

  • No excess and/or late night noise which may be disturbing to locality and neighbours

  • The château, petit donjon and studio are left in a clean and tidy condition

  • All keys are returned to the owner and the chateau, petit donjon and studio are left locked.

  • No linens are lost or damaged.

  • No early arrival or late departure without previous agreement.

 

Please treat the facilities & accommodation with due care so that other guests may continue to enjoy them. In the event that you notice any damage, please let us know immediately so that we can take the appropriate action. If there have been any breakages during your stay, we would be grateful if you could replace them or advise us before you leave. The accommodation will be inspected at the end of the holiday & you may be charged for any loss or damage found. In addition;

  • We remind you to lock the doors and close the windows when you are leaving the property unoccupied.

  • We reserve the right to make a charge to cover additional cleaning costs if you leave the property in an unacceptable condition. 

  • All inventory must remain in the property it was in at arrival and not be taken to another property. 

 

DAMAGES, BREAKAGES & MISSING ITEMS (Chambres d'Hotes)

Please inform us immediately of any damage or breakages you cause during your stay, so that we can repair or replace items.  We understand that accidents happen and won’t usually charge for them, however, we reserve the right to make a charge if there has been undue reckless or careless behaviour which has led to the damage.  If we find any items missing from your bedroom or salon during your stay, we also reserve the right to charge you for them.

 

MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY

 

The maximum number of guests is limited to:-

 

THE PRINCESS SUITE - SIX (6) persons

THE PRINCE SUITE – THREE (3) persons

PETITE PRINCESS – FOUR (4) persons

THE PETIT DONJON - SIX (6) persons

THE PETIT PRINCE STUDIO – TWO (2) persons

 

 Only those people listed on the booking form can occupy the room/rooms you have booked. We reserve the right to terminate the booking without notice and without refund in case of a breach of this condition.

 

AGE OF OCCUPANTS

Bookings cannot be accepted from persons under twenty five (25) years of age.

 

ACCESSIBILITY

Chateau Mareuil dates back to the 15th century, some buildings on site are even older and the whole domain is built on a rock overlooking the River Asse. The chateau was not designed with accessibility in mind.  We do not have any specific facilities for guests with disabilities, however, our Petit Prince room and Studio Apartment are both at ground floor level and suitable for guests who may find stairs challenging.

 

FALSIFIED BOOKINGS

Any booking obtained under false pretences will be subject to forfeiture of deposit and any advance payment, and the party will not be permitted to check in.

 

PROPERTY RATES AND PRICING

Rates subject to change without notice, but are fixed from the time of your booking

 

 

CHECK IN/CHECK OUT TIMES

ARRIVAL TIME is AFTER 15.00 AND DEPARTURE TIME is by 11.00 (Bed & Breakfast)

ARRIVAL TIME is AFTER 16.00 AND DEPARTURE TIME is by 10.00 (Holiday Rental)

This allows the accommodation to be thoroughly cleaned and prepared for incoming guests.

 

Changes to these times may be agreed by exception

 

SMOKING

This is a NON SMOKING property.  Smoking anywhere on the premises will result in immediate termination of occupancy and forfeiture of all payments. This must be strictly adhered to and any damage or extra cleaning caused by smoking will be at your expense.

 

PETS

PETS (maximum of 2), are permitted in the chateau/studio only with prior approval.  A £50 per pet fee applies. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up all pet refuse. Pets are not allowed on furniture at any time. Any evidence of pets on furniture may incur extra cleaning fees. All pets must be up -to-date on rabies vaccinations and all other vaccinations.  All pets are to be treated with flea and tick repellent three (3) days prior to arrival. All items above are the sole responsibility of the pet owner. The chateau owners assume no responsibility for illness or injury that humans or pets may incur while on the premises.  We ask that all dogs are kept on a lead whilst outside of the chateau, Petit Donjon or studio except for the pool area which is enclosed.

 

INTERNET

The internet connection is available (at no extra cost) subject to technical availability.

We ask that guests use this access to the Internet fairly and appropriately. We may monitor network performance and user usage in order to maintain a fair level of service for all our guests. The Internet access provided is intended for general use such as access to the world wide web, email, messaging, social media, light video / music / media streaming. It is not intended or ideally suited for heavy media streaming, online gaming, extensive downloads/uploads. Access to illegal activity or use of our network for illegal activity is prohibited.

POOL (in season)

  • Children under 18 must be supervised at all times.

  • Absolutely no glasses to be used poolside or anywhere in the pool area.

  • Pool times must be adhered to (09.00 – 20.00)

  • Please shower before entering the pool.

 

WATER AND SEPTIC TANK

The chateau has a septic tank as do most rural French properties. The septic system is very effective; however, it will clog up if improper material is flushed. Please DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products should be flushed at anytime. If it is found that feminine products or face wipes have been flushed and clog the septic system, you could be charged damages of up to two hundred and fifty euros (€250).

 

CAR PARKING

We have ample parking for guests on the property.  Cars are parked here at the owner’s risk.

 

MEALS

In addition to a delicious breakfast included in your Chambres d’Hotes rate, we are delighted to offer Table d’Hotes evening meals, using, whenever possible, produce from our own organic fruit and vegetable garden. Please reserve your meal at least 24 hours in advance, and let us know if you have any dietary requirements. By law, we cannot offer a menu for Table d’Hotes, but we can cater to any allergies.

 

LIABILITY

We do not accept any liability for damage, loss or injury to you, or any member of your party, nor your vehicles or possessions. We will not be liable for any temporary defect or malfunction of any equipment or appliance in the building, grounds or pool.

 

TERMINATION POLICY

All guests agree to respect the privacy and peace of mind of all members of the household at all times. We reserve the right to cancel a booking with immediate effect if guests are not honouring this agreement or causing a disturbance to us or to the other guests. In which case any outstanding account must be settled, and no refunds will be made

 

WRITTEN EXCEPTIONS

Any exceptions to the policies mentioned above must be approved be email in advance.

 

ISSUES/COMPLAINTS

Any problem or complaint which the client may have concerning their stay must be immediately reported directly to us/our representatives and we will endeavour to put matters right. Any complaints not reported to us/the property manager at the time and only reported after the client has departed will not be considered by the proprietor.

We (the owner) reserve the right to refuse a booking without giving any reason.

 

INSURANCE

We strongly advise taking out comprehensive travel insurance to cover possible cancellation costs and your stay at Chateau Mareuil. If you choose not to then you accept responsibility for any loss that you may incur due to your cancellation.

 

PRIVACY POLICY

This Privacy Notice explains how we use any personal information we collect about you.

What information we we collect

When you make a booking with us we collect:
Your name, email address and phone number;
Guest stay data, including date of arrival and departure, and special requests made
Data you provide regarding your marketing preferences

 

How we use this information

We will use your email address to send you confirmation of the booking and an email with more details on how to find us and other information you may find useful for your stay.
After your stay you may receive an email checking everything was ok with your stay and offering you ways to stay in contact with us by social media or email if you choose to do so.
We will not use your telephone number to contact you unless in an emergency and/or we have been unable to contact you by email.
We will not share your information with any third party unless there is a legal reason for doing so.

 

Marketing

We would like to stay in touch with you to send information about Chateau Mareuil, any special offers we may have or local events. We may send occasional emails ( normally no more than one a month )  to people on our distribution list.

 

FINALLY

This property is privately owned and is our home. We expect all guests to enjoy the facilities and treat the property with the same respect that they would with their own house.
